I usually write inspirational, devotional pieces but have been encouraged to try some fiction writing since joining Faithwriters http://www.faithwriters.com/ Below is a piece I had written awhile back and actually placed in their weekly challenge. It's called "The list" and if you have ever felt overwhelmed with too much to do and just wanted to have a "ME" day then you can relate to this short story. hope you enjoy it.
"Before I do anything else, I must make my list." I told myself as I
"Before I do anything else, I must make my list." I told myself as I
rummaged through my desk for a pen and paper. "There I have found it. Now I need to sit and.....wait I should get myself a cup of coffee first." I continued to talk to myself, as I headed to the kitchen. I poured my hazelnut coffee into my favorite mug and was eying the last blueberry muffin. It will only take a few seconds in the microwave and this will go wonderful with my coffee. Then I will make my list.
"Ok, coffee--check. muffin--check." I announced as I headed to my comfy reclining chair. My eyes were once again drawn away from my destination and I saw my new copy of Christian Ladies magazine on the table. There was an article I just had to read by my favorite author. It was on helping Christian women be organized and keeping their houses in order. I'll just read the article and then I will make my list.
"Lord, that was such a blessing." I spoke out loud. I cannot believe I read the whole thing. Well it was a Christian magazine, so it was not wasted time I tried to persuade myself. Now, what was that I was going to do? Oh yes, my list.
I'm gonna warm up my coffee first and then I will definitely get started. It's 3pm already; it’s time for my favorite television show "Susie". I'll watch her for a bit. She always wants to help people. It's a good show; I once again talked myself into sitting down and forgetting my list.
Ring... Ring... my phone wakes me up. I cannot believe I fell asleep. Why it's my friend Angel. I certainly could go to supper with her. No I am not busy. This will save me from making dinner. Yes I can be there in a jiffy. I will do the list as soon as I get back.
"What a day!" I yawned out as I was getting ready for bed. I really got.. Nothing done today. My eyes finally went to my list and read the only words I had written.
MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO TODAY. Regretfully, I crossed off the word today and wrote TOMORROW.

It sounds like days I've had. You really are a good writer Debbie. I've heard of that site Faithwriters and how it can help develop your writing skills. Maybe I need to check it out.
(Definitely check out faithwriters, Debbie!)
Great one, Deb - and YES, you can do Monday Manna on Sunday--and I can even link you up when I wake up in the morning (if I remember - maybe drop me an email to remind me - there's a link at my blog under "contact" - or just do it through my email thing on the boards). Hope you will contribute - it's a wonderful meme.
I enjoyed reading what you came up with. I haven't heard of Faith Writers so thanks for the link to that.
I can so relate to your story!
