National Day of Prayer-No longer observed in the White House

The above link will give you a short article that tells about the new administration no longer observing The National Day of Prayer at the white house. It saddens and makes me fearful of what is to come in our country. From not being able to give your opinion on national TV, when you are asked it. Because it's against what is deemed the Majority's opinion. To this new declaration regarding the National Day of Prayer events at our nation's capital.

I know I should not be fearful, because God is in Control. It's just I am fearful of the unknown... and I know it is going to get worse before it gets better (Heaven)!.

We as Christians need to seek God's face for strength, wisdom and guidance. To be able to give a bold, Christ-ordained, scripture-inspired answer when we are questioned about our faith, morality or chosen beliefs.

A biblical example of how our words can effect our testimony for Christ is the story of Apollos

Acts 18:24-28 says-

24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; 28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
(NKJV)

I highlighted some interesting parts of this scripture. We see in the first verse here, that Apollos was eloquent in speech. To me being eloquent in speech, is someone who takes the time to think before he speaks and speaks so others will understand. Usually they are also a studier of what they speak of and that allows them to come across in a confident manner.

In verse 26, he was willing to learn more from others. Beyond what he knew already.. How many of us our stuck in the "I know what that means" frame of mind and are not open to hearing other's thoughts on things.

Lastly in verse 28, he in PUBLIC refuted the Jews and showed them through the SCRIPTURE that Jesus is Christ. He backed up what he believes with what he knows is the truth. He is not ashamed but publicly shares!!

We are going to be called to stand up for what we believe and not pull back and blend in with those around you. For the bible says in

Romans 1:16-
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (kjv)

My pastor has said that the Christians in the book of Acts were going through a similar time as we are going through in our present time. For they lived in a non-christian nation and sadly our nation is no longer a nation under God.

Dear Lord, I come before you asking for your spirit to be with your believers. Strengthen us in the wisdom of your word and fill us with your power. So we will boldly come out from the world and be a light to you. May the world of unbelievers be able to see our light and may we not blend in with those around us. For we need to be careful, (even more so now) in what we say or do! For we are representatives of You Lord.

I pray for those in the Administration that want to stand up for you Lord, that they would be filled with your spirit. So they may say and do all that needs to be done for your glory in this nation. I thank you Lord for all that you have done for our nation and in my life and I thank you for all that you are going to do for us. In the name of JESUS,
AMEN

This is a sad day in our country. As a Christian it breaks my heart that we now have a goverment that will not support a day so important.

I wholeheartedly agree with your post and share your remorse and concern. I think we should be concerned and driven to the Lord as never before! I struggle feeling fearful of the future of our country and it draws me closer to the Lord. No matter what our future holds, we are in His hands. May we know Him more and more and may our country turn back to Him! Thank you again for this post and your powerful prayers!
